This term, our writing and reading will be inspired by two class texts – Pebble in my Pocket and Ug Boy: Genius of the Stone Age.

We will develop our literacy skills by writing in many different styles and formats including persuasive letters, news reports, stories, poems, play scripts and non-chronological reports.

We will work on our spelling, grammar and punctuation daily and also improve our reading comprehension through guided reading sessions.

As ever, we advise parents to do as much reading with children at home as possible too.

In the first half term of the year, our RE lessons will focus on preparation for 'First Reconciliation.' All children in Year 3 will work through the scheme of work set by the Diocese of Leeds and then, during Lent, those who have chosen to, will receive the sacrament. The work will help children to understand why it is important to seek God's mercy and forgiveness. We will consider His infinite love for us and how this sacrament allows him to gladly pour out his mercy upon us. We will learn about the indescribable beauty of this healing sacrament.

History - We will continue to study the Stone Age.

Geography - An introduction to Geology.

Science - Vocanoes, Earthquakes and Rock formation.

Computing -  Writing Code using 'Scratch' and 'Kodu.'

Music - Singing with the Diocese of Leeds.
