On the morning of 21st March, Fr Gabriel and Br Joshua from the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal based at St Pio Friary in Bradford came to visit to school.

Speaking to the whole school in assembly, they explained what it means to be a Franciscan, what they wear, and why. They then taught the children an action song about saying "Yes!" to Jesus.

The first of two hour-long workshops led by the Friars was with Year 3 where the focus was on the Sacrament of Reconciliation, as many of the children had received that sacrament for the first time the day before. The Friars told the story of St Francis and the wolf and finished with some singing.

The second workshop was for Year 5. These children are soon to begin the sacramental programme for their Confirmation so the meaning of this sacrament was discussed. After some more praise and worship, the session finished with questions and answers.

It was a great morning and a real privilege for the school to welcome the Friars.
